The wheel is one of the greatest inventions ever made. Before the invention of wheels, heavy loads were moved on sleds pulled by people or oxen. The earliest wheel was made in Ancient Mesopotamia and Modern Iraq. Between 3500 B.C. and 3000 B.C. There were two kinds of wheels. One was a potter's wheel used to make great art work called pottery. The other wheel was used for moving heavy loads, transportation, and for trading items. This invention made a change in the way people back then lived because of the way the wheel was used in different societies. An example of this is how some civilizations used the wheel for different things before others. This had an impact on battles and fights for land and territories. During the progression of the wheel it became more and more useful and succesful.  A modern day example of the wheel can be seen in our automobile industry.  Vehicles allow us to travel almost anywhere as long as there is a road. It also allows planes to take off and land, which helps in transporting and trading goods. This made a huge impact on both Sumerian and our life style today.  The wheel has opened up import and export trades to help our economy.
